Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

It is that time again, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo returns to NRG Center for three weeks of nonstop cowboy and cowgirl thrills, fun, entertainment and food. If you are new to The Woodlands, the Houston Rodeo is THE event of the year and should not be missed. There is so much to do and see!


Over the next three weeks, you’ll be treated to concerts featuring national headlining acts as well as local talent, a carnival, horse and livestock shows, all sorts of youth competitions and children’s activities. Plus, a parade, a race, horticultures, Ladies’ night, dancing, a wine garden, educational programming, shopping and auctions.


For the kids, there’s a petting zoo, a Kids’ Pedal Tractor Pull, Muttin’ Bustin’, Pig Races, pony and camel rides. The AGventure area brings farm life to the big city with a birthing center, fisheries, honey bees, and milking demonstrations.


Every day the grounds to the rodeo and livestock show opens at 8am, and you will find something for everyone. The daytime features horse shows where handler shows his abilities at ranching and herding, and livestock shows that exhibit the prowess of the most majestic of animals. There are educational seminars on ranching and wildlife.


Every day, the Statoil Stars over Texas Stage features animal acts, musicians, and other entertainers, including an introduction to Houston’s Up & Comers.


Every afternoon, the Hideout and the Wine Garden open for hanging out and listening to live music.


Every evening features the star of the show – the Rodeo – which is then followed by a different headlining act every night, with musicians representing the very best of popular and country music today.


Every day, the Carnival opens at 11am and closes at Midnight.
