New Year’s Resolutions

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  Shhh!!! We shouldn’t shout so loud!! You’re probably still recovering from last night’s festivities! Now it’s time to start planning your New Year’s Resolutions. Here is a short list of some really great ideas.

Smile More – says “It is well known among social psychologists now that the simple act of smiling can make you happier and healthier, even if your smile is a forced one! According to thefacial feedback hypothesis, smiling activates the release of dopamine, endorphins and serotonin, neurotransmitters that help reduce stress and elicit positive emotions. It can actually influence your brain. Also, it is contagious, literally. According to aSwedish study, when people are exposed to emotional facial expressions, they tend to unconsciously mimic those expressions, positive or negative, which as just discussed may influence their emotions.

Reconnect with Friends – says that research suggests people with strong social ties live longer than those who don’t. A lack of social bonds can damage your health as much as alcohol abuse and smoking, and even more than obesity and lack of exercise, a 2010 study in the journal PLoS Medicine suggests. The best part is that with today’s technology it’s never been easier to stay in touch—or rejuvenate your relationship—with friends and family.

Visit a New Destination – says to take yourself outside your comfort zone and go somewhere new. Going on an adventures is a sure cure for boredom. Whether you have a dream destination in mind or you simply throw a dart at a map of the world, going somewhere new is the most important New Year’s resolution all men should make. Even if you hate traveling, you can still do this. Visiting somewhere new can even include the restaurant you walk past every day, the local museum or the next town over.

So, what will your New Year’s Resolution be?
