World’s Championship Bar-B-Que

World's Championship Bar-B-Que

It’s getting to be that time of year and we are all chomping at the bit (get it?!) for the Houston Rodeo to start, but don’t let this mouth-watering pre-party pass you by. It’s the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que. And the name doesn’t lie. This is the throw-down between over 300 teams of barbecue aficionados competing in a traditional Texas cook-off. And, it may be the best damned BBQ you’ll ever eat in your life.

The team tents are invitation only, but there are plenty of tents for the public to meander, and just about every tent has an open bar and this party attracts a LOT of people! You can expect to find upwards of 50,000 people per day, eating, drinking and partying the night away. There’s no party like this anywhere else in the world.

The cost of admission to the Contest buys you general admission to the contest as well as a chopped barbecue beef sandwich plate with chips and beans in the public food tent, The Chuck Wagon, located inside the Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon.

The Garden is a general public area, located smack in the middle of the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, complete with three days of live music.

The Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon is on the north side of the contest area, where you and your friends will dance all night to live music and DJs. If you’d rather relax, grab a seat on the outside patio area to enjoy a cold beverage. Either way, this venue is a must for the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest visitors. Free admission to the public once you are on the Contest grounds – no tent pass needed.
